My 5 year old son enjoyed it and laughed at silly faces animals are making. Many silly postures of hippo are funny too.
As an adult, I think the illustration could have more colors, however my kid didn't mind it so I wont care.
Its difficult to find books with a good message and keep it fun reading as well. The book surely has a important learning message for kids. Many kids around 5 like to make fun of fat little kids. This may sound a little too matured but knowing that anyone can do anything is important.
You cant judge a book by its cover and a hippo by its size :)
