What is CMS
: A CMS is an acronym for the content management system. It is a software application used to create and manage a website without having a code and any technical knowledge.

The content management system is often considered as a subset of ECM and WCMS. Also, CMS is used for Enterprise content management(ECM) and Web content management(WCM).

What is ECM: Enterprise content management(ECM) is a set of defined strategies, processes, and tools used for managing businesses effectively. It can manage both structured and unstructured content.

What is WCM: A web content management system is considered to be a subset of a CMS. In WCMS, the main differentiating factor is it is further applicable to web content. While an ECMS relates to a business process.

Let's get a closer look at how a CMS works.

How Does CMS Work

It is very easy to do things with a content management system as it’s without a code. First, you have to know how to build a site to learn how CMS works.

You will start with HTML. It is used to add images, text, navigation bars, and other building blocks of a site. Then you will add CSS which is used to design elements to match the unique look. After that, you’ll write some JavaScript to add advanced functionality to the website. Then you have to upload the HTML file to your server.

If you want to make any changes to your site, You have to download files from the server, open them and change the HTML code.

Building a website with CMS is very simple, just select the best things to build the site. It includes inserting pictures, text, and graphics directly through a control panel.

For those who don’t have time/resources or coding skills to build and maintain a website, they can go for a CMS.

Let's see how to use CMS

How to Use CMS

A CMS is divided into two core parts one is Content management application (CMA) and the other is content delivery applications (CDA). Combining both these applications will allow you to handle all the database queries, code, and infrastructure in the back end. So, you can focus on the front end of your site.

Start with an empty HTML page, for example, you will open the content editor and be able to change the content, insert images, tables, add links, bold text by dragging and dropping some modules, and writing CSS, HTML, and Javascript. To make other changes on your site, just navigate to the appropriate section in your admin panel.

CMA action: All these changes are done in an interface that hides the code from you the end-user when changes are done, the CDA will take the content then you enter into the CMA. Then you can see your front-end visitors, and store it. That means if you want to publish your blog post, just click the publish button and then manually upload a page to your server.
